Maximum 1-day precipitation (RX1day)

Maximum 1-day precipitation (RX1day): maximum value of daily precipitation in one year. The unit of measurement for RX1day is millimeters (mm, equivalent to liters per square meter) and for ARX1day (it is a relative anomaly) is percentage (%).

The evolution of RX1day anomaly (ARX1day, calculated as the quotient of the difference between the annual value of RX1day and the mean value of RX1day in the reference period 1981-2010 divided by this mean value of the reference period) during the period 1959-2020 is shown for the Pyrenees and for 4 areas of the Massif (Northern Pyrenees, Southern Pyrenees, Mediterranean Pyrenees and Atlantic Pyrenees); for each of the 26 series analyzed, the evolution of RX1day index is shown.

The annual mean of RX1day for the Pyrenees is obtained from the annual RX1day values ​​of 26 representative series of the Pyrenees massif (areas at different altitudes and on all slopes: north, south, east or Mediterranean and west or Atlantic), while the mean value of RX1day for the 4 zones of the Massif is obtained from the annual RX1day values ​​of the representative series located in each zone.
